The universe of useful tools

THE EXPANSION THEORY OF WORKSPACE AND -TIME.

2020 definitely was a Big Bang for communication technology – including of course collaborative working tools. So the universe of useful tools especially in context of remote and hybrid work is expanding more and faster, but can be a little overwhelming sometimes.

STAY UP TO DATE IN THE TOOL UNIVERSE.

To keep track of those, check out this well-organized visual overview of tools compiled by the Guide publisher Holloway. The categorization and tag function allows to browse for relevant tools and to check out their competitors. From Collaboration and Documentation to Project Management to Video Conferencing there is a lot to discover. To stay up to date and to see the full picture, the database gets updated regularly and lists almost 400 tools in total.

WHAT’S HOT: INTEGRATIVE WHITEBOARD TOOLS AND VIRTUAL EVENT SPACES.

In the last months, two fields of applications in particular have developed strongly:

(i) Collaborative whiteboard tools such as Miro or Mural. Miro with its great usability can be used both for internal and external occasions – for various forms of workshops, sprints or brainstorming sessions. A plus: it’s easily integrable in business communication platforms like Microsoft Teams!

(ii) Platforms for virtual events such as hopin, RunTheWorld, Airmeet or trember brought virtual events to the next level through their range of possibilities. Unlike on Zoom, for example, events hosted on hopin have their own event space where it’s easy to navigate through. Participants can jump from stage to stage, create their own calendar, can network and connect. Zoom out and hop in!
