Beyond its own digital ecosystem, JD cooperates with Tencent, the owner of WeChat, and integrated its JD store into the WeChat mini-program interface to directly offer shopping through the messaging app. JDs e-commerce technology is further used as a template for other e-commerce functions within the WeChat ecosystem. The joint forces of WeChat and JD shall serve as counterbalance to Alibaba in the strongly competitive e-commerce platform market.
